1 1/2 Cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 Teaspoon of salt
2 Tablespoons of sugar
1/2 Cup of oil
2 Tablespoons of apple juice
*Combine the dry ingredients first then add in the wet ingredients. After combining them all in the mixing bowl, use a fork for mixing. Next you will want to take your pie crust and shape it (with your fingers) to your 9" pie dish (set aside).
4 Large cored, peeled and diced apples of your choice
2 Large cored and thin to medium sliced apples (set aside)
1/3 Cup of 100% Maple Syrup
1/3 Cup of melted vegan margarine
1/3 Cup of organic pure cane sugar
1 Tablespoon of ground cinnamon
1 Teaspoon of grated nutmeg
*In a mixing bowl, combine the 4 large apples, maple syrup, margarine, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg together. Make sure it is mixed well and all of the diced apples are covered with the other ingredients. After mixing, I like to take a small bite of the mixture because it smells so good and I can't resist (haha). Now, take your mixture and pour it evenly into the pie crust. Then you will take the 2 large apples and place them in a design of your choice (I chose a circular design but if you want to be more creative go for it!). To top off the pie, I added some extra cinnamon, sugar and tiny amounts of margarine (optional).
*You will want to bake this beauty at 350° F for 45 minutes. When finished baking, let it cool off to a comfortable temperature for eating then enjoy!
I hope you loved this recipe as much as I did, and your friends and family will too! Have a great day Casa de Góngora friends!
